We first met around the turn of the millennium. We were working in varied functions across GSK to address major challenges facing different parts of the business. We started meeting up as friends for dinner and found ourselves sharing learnings over many glasses of wine. Between us we have coached and led hundreds of teams across the major business functions in the delivery of significant and sustained benefits. Over time, these dinners developed into serious discussions of how we could share what we have learned with a wider audience. Through our discussions we worked out what the key things were that made the difference between successful improvement projects and those that just dwindled and died.
Based on our diverse experiences of what it takes to be successful we distilled it down to three key principles and nine supporting concepts that we have used over and over again. Thus, the Success Equation was born. Through examining all our experiences of both success and failure we have synthesised a robust approach to deliver improvements rapidly. And now this approach is available to everyone via our book:
‘The Success Equation: Three core principles that power business improvement.’
We would love to have the opportunity to share our knowledge and experience with you and help you to apply the Success Equation to your business.
We, Karen, Marilyn and Fiona have coached and led hundreds of teams across the major business functions in the delivery of significant and sustained benefits. Together, we have synthesised our broad ranging expertise and experience into a compelling, accessible and effective way to meet business challenges. In GSK I led the European IT Six Sigma stream delivering savings through training, coaching & benefits management; I headed up and transformed the SAP Project Portfolio Office delivering enhancement and release management; I delivered multi-million £ change initiatives within the GlaxoSmithKline Working Capital Programme and ran the cross-functional steering group.

Examples include redesign of a packaging development process for a Biotech; coaching and project support in utilities and investment banking. Whatever the challenge, I achieve results through seeking out other’s perspectives and forging them into a united approach. I get most personal satisfaction from improvements in peoples’ working lives, for example leading a radical change to the emails of over a hundred thousand people, keeping them working with minimal disruption whilst meeting the company’s legal goals. I’m known for my focus on the practical and can often be heard saying “How can we make that work?”
I am currently Director of Russet Consulting and enjoy helping teams and individuals to work out where they need to go and how best to get there through applying the inclusive, pragmatic and simple approaches that I know will be successful.
